Shhhh.....

...our garden doesn't know its fall yet.

Either that or the tomatoes and the okra are in denial about the season change. Hopefully the pumpkins and the chrysanthemums won't make them any wiser. ;) They'll find out soon enough.

We have a new addition to our family!

(And no Mom, I'm not pregnant.)

I would like to introduce everyone to Mark! I heart Mark the Second already. I don't even care that this isn't the greatest picture of him, because I think he is beautiful regardless.

Buster is already a little jealous of our newest 'child,' but I think he'll warm up to him eventually. New 'child' or not, he told me he will not give up his bone...to anyone...ever. Looks like someone needs a sharing lesson. :)

Happy Anniversary

As of today, we have been married a year!  Which pretty much means we are experts at this whole "being married thing." (Right?) :)

Hunter surprised me by taking me horseback riding on Saturday, something that I had casually mentioned oh... one or two (or twenty) times in the past year. I'm very subtle. We went to Natchez Trace Stables (definitely recommend them!) and overall we had a wonderful time. We met a real cowboy, rode through a creek and I lost my sunglasses. So the day was complete!

This little lady had a thing for my cowboy. I had to tell her to back off. Very nicely of course.

Ponies!!!!!!!!!! Yes, the 5-year old little girl dream of owning a pony is still alive. (Am I alone in this?)

I also learned that it is quite difficult to take photos while riding a horse. Which may or may not have had something to do with me losing my sunglasses.

And...because we are hardcore vintage-y cowboy type people, one more western-fun photo:

Franklin Childrens Photography: Everett

I promised that you would get to meet Nora Kate's big brother, so here he is! Everett is a spunky little 3 year old who was very excited to have his picture taken. (Note to self: If I can somehow bottle the energy of a toddler, I can out-sell Red Bull in a heartbeat.)  We decided to go on a walk through the neighborhood and shoot (and play) along the way. :)

To get some smiles and laughs, we discussed the finer points of what my puppy likes to eat. Toilet paper, rocks, dirt, paper towels, more dirt, the newspaper, etc.  The digestive abilities of a dog are apparently amazing (and hilarious) to a three year old.  :)

Typical boy: wants to wear his hat in every photo.
Typical Mom: does not want boy to wear hat in every photo.
So, we compromised. :)

Such a fun way to spend an afternoon!

Franklin Newborn Photography: Nora Kate

(*Disclaimer: This post may make you want a baby.)

It is a rainy, overcast Monday here in Nashville and I am bundled up in the house editing away. So what cures the Monday blues? Cute babies!!! :) Nora Kate was such a little sweetheart, and once her mom swaddled her up, she went right to sleep for us.

I had the pleasure of photographing this little lady and her big brother last week. I'll be doing a separate post on him in a few days, so stay tuned to meet big brother Everett!

Don't say I didn't warn you. :)

The Germers

Recently, I had the pleasure of getting to photograph some of our very best friends. Since we only get to see them a few times a year, we squeezed in a quick photo shoot while we were in Texas this past weekend. After stuffing ourselves full of breakfast tacos, (Seriously, why doesn't Nashville have these anywhere?) we set off to shoot under the huge oak trees that are all over San Antonio.

If Josiah is ever missing, I might have brought him to Nashville with me. So so adorable.

So much fun! We might have to make this a yearly tradition. ;)

Nashville Childrens Photography: Kaden Turns 1

A little over a week ago, I was asked to help celebrate a very special first birthday! Fun decorations? Adorable family? Check and check. All the kids (and puppies) had a great time during the baseball-themed party. Kaden's mom went all out on the decorations - all the way down to baseball cake-pops and inflatable bats. Too cute!

Probably one of the funniest things was that Kaden did not like walking on the grass. At all. He only lasted a few minutes before wanting his mom to pick him up. :)

And of course, no first birthday would be complete without someone getting to smash a cake! Even though this was Kaden's first time having cake, he had no problem digging in. (But really, who doesn't like cake?) :)

Happy Birthday Kaden!
