Happy Halloween: How to make a scary face

So, we typically have a pretty low key Halloween around our house. Although I do have a strong affinity for all things pumpkin related (both carving and baking), I don't dress up very often. We usually just hand out candy on the porch, and I repeatedly remind Hunter that giving the 15 year olds (without a costume) a piece of candy is better than getting our cars egged.

However, for those of you that get into the Halloweeny spirit, I thought I would share some scary/funny face ideas with you. Gotta love it when a kid has a sense of humor during a photoshoot. :)

Number 1: "The Lizard." Anyone's mom give them the "Your face is going to get stuck like that!" line?

Number 2: The "I got caught." (Depending on what you have just done, it can be scary indeed.)

Number 3: "The Blowfish." They are poisonous, therefore, they are scary in my book.

Number 4: "The Scream." Even babies can get in on the scary face action.

And the Finale: "Zombie Apocalypse." Okay okay, so I had trouble with this one. "Frog face?" "This had to hurt?" I'm open to suggestions, but I think this might have been the most creative.

Happy Halloween!

Tarrants Family : Franklin Family Photography

I had the pleasure of spending last Saturday morning with the Tarrants family in Franklin. They were such troopers and let me drag them around to 4 different locations! :) Both of their girls are adorable, and we had a lot of fun enjoying a perfect autumn day.

Three year old Katherine did great, and was kind enough to educate me on the finer points of the Lion King (fyi: apparently Mufasa is the best character) and how to make a good scary face....

Baby Anna was so relaxed the entire day...and (once we got her to look at the camera) we got some great shots! :)

Such a fun family! Happy Wednesday everyone!

Gone to Carolina

I went home to SC this weekend to celebrate the engagement of my sister Rachel and (almost) brother in law Matt. His family threw a rockin' engagement party (with a band! and cupcakes!) at a hunt club near Columbia. Aren't they cute? :)
Happy Engagement Chan and Buffy! (I like nicknames. Don't ask.)

And of course, I got to enjoy some time at home on the island. I sure wouldn't mind waking up to this view everyday. Would you? :)

Business & Busyness: Last Open Weekend in October

Pumpkins, apple cider, cooler weather...this fall is already flying by and it has barely even started yet! :) So far I have purchased 7 pumpkins for our house (I know, I know...but some of them are little ones) and discovered that canned pumpkin was sold out at the grocery store...already! I am on a hunt for a few cans to make some pumpkin-related baked goods...but that is another post.

I just wanted to write a quick blog to deal with a little business item....our last open weekend this month! Every weekend in October is booked except for October 8th/9th (this weekend!), so if anyone would like it, its up for grabs! It is supposed to be gorgeous this weekend, so I would love to work in another outdoor shoot or two.

I am still available for weekday shoots (after school is a great time for Senior Portraits), but if you are looking for a Saturday or Sunday shoot, please email me asap.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful fall!

Girls Weekend

A few hours ago I put my mom and sister on a plane leaving Nashville after a wonderful girls weekend. We completely exhausted ourselves hitting up almost every mall, antique store, and shopping center in both Nashville and Franklin. But...we also managed to squeeze in a quick photo shoot, eat some cookie dough, and have a margarita (or two) along the way. Its all about priorities people. :)

Aren't they beautiful? :)
